how to cook rice without a rice cooker?
It’s
always easier to use a rice cooker when cooking rice. Just follow the
instruction manual and voala… you got yourself cooked rice!
But
what if you don’t have a rice cooker? You may even own one but you want to save
money from paying your electric bill, because using a rice cooker can consume
more electricity.
I
found the traditional way of cooking rice without burning it. Just follow these
simple steps and sure enough you’ll never eat burned rice anymore.
One: Measure how many cups of rice that
you would like to cook and place it in a cooking pot. (Ex: 5 cups of rice)
Two: Wash rice and remove excess dirt.
Three: Put water following the given
equation:
for every 1 cup of rice = 1 cup of water + 1 cup of water.
(Ex: If we have 5 cups of rice = 5
cups of water + 1 cup of water)
Four: Place the cooking pot on stove and
cover. Wait for it to boil.
Five: Once boiling reaches the cover of
pot, adjust the heat to lowest. Don’t remove cover and set timer to 15 minutes.
Six: After 15 minutes, remove from heat
and let it sit on the table for another 5 to 8 minutes without removing the
cover.
Seven: Enjoy!
Bonus tips: You can use any cooking pot with
cover.
The 15 minutes is a standard waiting time in any quantity of rice you choose, just make sure to set the heat on the lowest.

how about if you want the rice to be a little thick "malagkit" just like the japanese rice?
ReplyDeletehi mary! you need to add more water - sample computation: 1 is to 1 plus 3 or 4 more cups... try it to determine your preferred consistency.
